History and Records FHS Girls Lacrosse

 

The Tigers girls’ lacrosse team was founded in 2010 by head coach Dan Pickens. The Tigers went 2-9 during their inaugural season, but they were young and talented. A bright future was on the horizon for the young Tigers.

 

In 2011, the Tigers went 1-10 led by Midboe, Bradshaw, and Jolicoeur.  Jolicoeur led the tem in assists, while Midboe led the tem in goals. Bradshaw dominated the ground ball control, by picking up 39 ground balls. The Tigers had one senior in 2011.

 

In 2012, the Tigers went 8-4. Dan Pickens, Shawn Anderson, Abby Thell, and Kate Demchek continued to coach the Tigers to improvement. Haley Bradshaw led the Tigers in goals with 42 for the season. Ally Midboe tallied 11 assists for the season. Adrienne Jolicoeur wrangled up 21 ground balls to lead the Tigers. Maddie Kolhbeck continued to shine in the goal, saving 53% of the goals coming her way!

 

In 2013, the Tigers went 7-6, and were lead by the same coaching staff. Rachael Welzin scored 42 goals that season to lead the team, but Shelby Klotz came right behind her with 35 goals. Both girls also lead the team with assists as well. Welzin captured 14 assists and Klotz produced 7. Maddie Kohlbeck continued to provide superior goaltending by saving 53% again!

 

2014 was the best year in FHS girl’s lacrosse history! This was the final season of coaching staff Dan Pickens, Shawn Anderson, and Abby Jones. Shelby Klotz netted 40 goals on the season, and 5 assists leading the team with 45 points. Rachael Welzin was right behind Klotz with 44 points. Maddie Kolhbeck saved 67% of the shots to help the Tigers win the Missota Conference for the first and last time in history! The Tigers graduated 13 to conclude the year.

 

In 2015, a new coach and a new conference was no problem for the young Tiger team. Steph LaVictoire took over as the head coach assisted by Abby Jones and Sharon Davenport.  Ashley Steffes tied Rachel Welzin for all time assist leader at 36 total, she lead the team with 13 this season. She also moved to 95 total career points. Shelby Klotz had a historic year as well. Klotz became the player to have the most games in a Tiger uniform at 65. She became the all time overall points leader at 165. She set the record for total points in a season at 61. She also netted a notable 51 goals this season. The Tigers had 3 all-conference awards to Genzler, Klotz, and Steffes. The Tigers had 3 all-conference honorable mention awards to Christine Steffes, Davenport, and Corraro. Klotz was the Tigers all-state athlete for the second consecutive year. The MVP award went to Klotz. The Tiger Hard Hat award was presented to Ashley Hessler. The Most-Improved award was presented to Lexi Laube. Josie Laube grabbed the Rookie of the Year award. The Tigers entered the South Suburban Conference and came out with a 6-3 record and 11-5 overall. Outside of their conference, the Tigers went 3-1.  The Tigers were eliminated from the playoffs by state runner-up, Lakeville South. The Tigers lost three seniors: Genzler, Klotz, and Markwardt. The new captains assigned for the 2016 season are: Corraro, Davenport, and Steffes.
